SALINA, Kan.  -  An apartment complex in Salina was evacuated after a report of heavy smoke Wednesday evening.  Firefighters responded to the 500 block of East Crawford Street just after 7:30 p.m.
     Saline County Dispatch says heavy smoke was found coming from a basement hallway of the building. Residents were evacuated.  Crews located the fire and quickly got it under control, but smoke continued to fill the complex.  No injuries were reported.
     The cause is under investigation, and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.  The American Red Cross was called in to assist displaced residents.
