Old Town Safety Ordinances In Wichita

     WICHITA - The city council continues to discuss Old Town safety.
     The problem is that the city cannot immediately pass ordinances for Old Town alone. To do so requires putting together information and data that justifies creating a separate entertainment district with separate ordinances. The city legal department says January would be a target date for that.
     So, in the meantime, ordinances meant for Old Town will apply to the entire city. Council-member Pete Meitzner was concerned that businesses outside Old Town will have to provide security in parking lots, when it's really only needed in Old Town.
     The city's legal department says it will advise police to be reasonable in enforcement.
