SALINA, Kan. -- A man accused of robbing a Rice County bank and firing shots at Kansas Highway Patrol troopers was released from prison in June after spending time for robbery. The KBI said Jason Gleason, 30, was booked into Saline County Jail on charges including attempted first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Authorities believe Gleason robbed the First Bank of Chase, Kansas Tuesday morning. Investigators said Gleason led a trooper on a high speed chase in Saline County. Shots were fired after the SUV crashed. Investigators said Gleason ran from the scene and was arrested before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night. There were four other people in Gleason's car, three juveniles and a woman. A trooper suffered minor injuries when he was struck by broken glass. Department of Corrections records show Gleason was released from prison in June after serving eight years for robbery. Reno County authorities also had arrested Gleason five days ago for failure to appear and for trying to get contraband into the jail.
