Suspects Arrested After Wichita Police Chase

WICHITA, Kan.  -  Police have taken two people into custody after a chase through east and southeast Wichita.  It started as a 911 call about a suspicious person with a weapon in the 2600 block of South Vassar Street at around 3:30 Monday afternoon.
Police followed the vehicle for about half an hour.  One officer in the chase was involved in a non-injury accident near Lincoln and George Washington Boulevard.
The vehicle being chased attempted to ram a patrol car near the post office at Kellogg and Webb Road. Officers then set up spike strips, which shredded at least one tire of the suspect’s vehicle.  The chase continued into a residential neighborhood, and the vehicle was finally stopped in the 400 block of South Winsor Street.
Two suspects, one of whom suffered minor injuries, were taken into custody.  One suspect was believed to be armed with an AK-47.
