Topeka Hallmark Plant to Close; 300 Jobs Lost

TOPEKA, Kan.  -  Topeka's Hallmark Production facility is shutting down. The company announced the cost cutting measure Tuesday afternoon.  Hallmark wants to consolidate its production to plants in Lawrence and Leavenworth.
Hallmark currently has 1,300 current employees in Topeka, Lawrence and Leavenworth. The consolidation will lower that total to 1,000 workers. Hourly workers will be offered a financial incentive to leave the company voluntarily.
Hallmark expects to close its Topeka facility by the end of 2013.
