HUTCHINSON, Kan. - A Hutchinson man was seriously hurt after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a house. It happened just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 14300 block of East 82nd Avenue in Reno County.
Officials say the 71-year-old victim was driving eastbound on 82nd when he became ill and tried to pull over to the side of the road. A witness told investigators the man's sport utility vehicle went off the roadway, through a ditch and then struck the side of a home.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a Wichita hospital by helicopter with serious injuries. No one in the home was hurt but the structure sustained extensive damage.
The accident is under investigation
