No Gunshots This Weekend in Old Town

WICHITA - For the four previous weekends, there had been reports of gunshots fired in the Old Town district downtown; this weekend, there were zero reports of gunfire.
Late Friday night, police on special assignment patrol in Old Town noticed two men near a car acting suspiciously in the 200 block of N. Mead. The men walked away; officers looked into the car, seeing a handgun on the floorboard, and open containers of alcohol. The two men were taken in for questioning.
One man admitted that the gun was his; he said he had brought the gun with him downtown because of recent reports of violence. It turns out, the 27-year-old man was a convicted felong; he was booked into jail for felony possession of a firearm.
Just a few hours later, at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, a 36-year-old man says he was walking back to his car after the bars closed when he was hit in the back of the head and knocked unconscious in the 100 block of N. Mosley. When he awoke, his wallet was gone. Because he was attacked from behind, the man was unable to describe his attackers.
