Fort Riley to Host Cavalry Competition



     FORT RILEY, Kan.  - Civilian re-enactors and soldiers will ride into northeast Kansas next week to participate in the 11th annual United States Cavalry Association's national competition.
     Last year's event was won by Fort Riley's Commanding General's Color Guard. The United States Cavalry Association is headquartered at Fort Riley and the event returns to Kansas every three years.
     Teams competing in the competition which begins Wednesday come from Fort Riley, Fort Carson, Colo., Fort Sill, Okla., Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Huachuca, Ariz. The events run through Sunday and culminate with the awarding of the Bolte Cup.
     Riders will compete in combat horsemanship, military horsemanship, mounted pistol and saber and military field jumping.
