WICHITA - There have been gunshots fired in the Old Town district for four straight weekends. This weekend, there will be added law-enforcement personnel on duty downtown; the problem usually occurs at about 2:00 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Mosley, when the clubs hit closing time.
Police and Old Town merchants are also studying other urban entertainment districts, such as Oklahoma City and Kansas City, to see how they handle security measures in their downtown areas on the weekends. They're also looking at more long-term safety measures, which could include more lighting, security cameras, and traffic barricades.
