WICHITA - A swift-moving storm brought severe weather on Friday afternoon to south-central Kansas, briefly dropping large hail in southeast Wichita.
At about 3:00 p.m. tennis ball- and ping pong ball-sized hail was reported near Harry & Rock Road, and quarter-sized hail was reported near Pawnee & Webb. There was also tree-limb damage reported in south Wichita.
After the storm blew through, Westar Energy reported more than 2,700 customers without power in Sedgwick County; the largest cluster of outages was in the southeast part of Derby.
A 65 mile-per-hour wind gust was reported just east of Augusta.
