WICHITA - A house fire this morning, reported around 1:25 in central Wichita. Firefighters responded to the 9-hundred block of South Main. 15 minutes later firefighters went into a defensive mode; fighting the flames from outside the house. There were reports of people possibly trapped inside, but no injuries were reported. The fire was called "under control" at 2:16.
     Just before midnight near Pawnee and Meridian a police officer reported that he fired shots at a man. The officer was sitting in a patrol car when he spotted a man he thought was pointing a rifle at him, and the officer exited his vehicle and fired. Police searched the area for an hour-and-a-half, but were unable to find a suspect.
