Greensburg Mulls Proposed Cedar-to-Oil Facility

GREENSBURG, Kan.  - Greensburg is considering a proposed facility that would convert red cedar trees into oil.
The Hutchinson News (http://bit.ly/NH3JK5) reported that representatives of the Oklahoma City-based SR2O Holdings described the proposal to city leaders this past week.
Mayor Bob Dixson and City Council members are expected to discuss this prospect in coming months.
Company officials say woody biomass, including red cedar trees, could make a plant work in Greensburg.   The company will conduct further study. But city officials consider the project more sustainable and less financially risky than an ethanol plant.
The city also potentially would see revenue from the plant.
