WICHITA - City officials are hoping the state of Kansas will provide some funding next year for a project to re-charge the underground water supply for the area, the Equus Beds.
The total cost of the recharge project is $220 million. City officials say when the project is completed, it will act as a sort of piggy bank for the area's water for the next forty years or so.
Wichita wants state lawmakers from the area to be aware of the project, because funding could be in jeopardy as the legislature looks to cut budgets next year.
