WICHITA, Kan. - Many Westar customers in Wichita are without power after a series of equipment failures that may haven been caused by the extreme heat. This comes after customers in Reno County lost power following a storm.
Westar officials say 450 customers in west Wichita are currently without power after three substations stopped operating following temperatures that reached 110 degrees. The first outages were reported just after 6 p.m. Sunday. Westar says crews are working to repair the damaged equipment and customers should have power restored by 1 a.m. Monday morning.
