KU Professor to Lecture About Extreme Weather

LAWRENCE, Kan. - A University of Kansas professor is conducting class at a popular Lawrence brewery to discuss just what constitutes extreme weather. Nathaniel Brunsell, an associate professor of geography and atmospheric science, will lead the discussion Tuesday at Free State Brewery in Lawrence. The event is prompted by recent weeks of extreme heat conditions across Kansas and the Midwest.
The event is sponsored by the university's Natural History Museum and is patterned after science cafes in other cities where experts have held discussions with the public about relevant science topics in informal settings. The discussion will focus on the extreme weather conditions and the implications for agriculture and urban and natural environments. Brunsell will talk about what constitutes extreme conditions and the effects of global climate change on extreme weather.
