EMPORIA, Kan. - Crews battled a large structure fire in Emporia Wednesday afternoon. First responders arrived on scene in the 2300 block of E. 6th Street just after 4:00 p.m.
Neighbors reported seeing a large fireball and thick, black smoke filling the sky. The blaze reportedly involved vehicles, grass, and a residence.
Witnesses said firefighters doused a home next door to prevent spreading. Crews from Lyon County, Americus, Hartford, and Olpe assisted with the fire.
A cause has not been determined, and there is no word on injuries.
