Boffo 2012 Wheat Harvest in Kansas

     WICHITA - Industry groups estimate the Kansas winter wheat harvest is about 75% complete, with reports indicating a good quality crop so far.
     The Kansas Grain and Feed Association, in conjunction with other industry trade groups, reported Thursday that farmers in Barber County have finished their harvest. The OK Co-op Grain Co. says it took in three million bushels, with farmers averaging 45-to-55 bushels per acre. The crop quality in that area was excellent, as test weights averaged 61 pounds per bushel.
     Sumner County farmers brought in about 45-to-50 bushels per acre. The Farmer's Co-op Grain Association in Wellington reports taking in more than four million bushels at its five locations, about 30% more than usual.
