Postal employees protest for added jobs

Inside any local post office are packages and cards to loved ones, government checks and, yes, even bills, waiting to make it to their destinations on time.

But on the outside of the Derby post office, members of the American Postal Workers Union were protesting for their services. They are upset because their jobs are constantly being cut, and yet, many customers end up standing in lines that sometimes end up out the door and down the block. Despite wanting to do better customer-service-wise, they say that it's almost impossible because their jobs are being cut.

Patricia Hardin has worked for the USPS for over twenty years and says customers will sometimes wait on the phone for hours to speak with a representative. She agrees that they need more employees, not cutbacks.

The United States Postal Service is funded through postage expense, not the federal government. Hardin hopes that the postal service will change with the times and support their employees.
