HAYS, Kan. (KNSS) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued an emergency suspension order Thursday of a Hays day care center operated by Tandra Kay Reif.

The licensee contacted authorities Tuesday regarding problems with a 5-month-old infant. The infant was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hays Police Department said the infant suffered a brain injury. Hays police and the KDHE are investigating a possible case of abuse.

The day care licensee is required to notify parents of children in care that her license has been suspended.
