2 dead, 2 injured in southwest Kansas traffic accident

MINNEOLA, Kan. (KNSS) – Two people were killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ford County Tuesday morning. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. on U.S. 54 8 miles northeast of Minneola, Kan.

The KHP says a pickup was westbound in the eastbound lane when it struck a semi truck head on. Both vehicles came to rest on the south shoulder of the highway. The driver of the pickup, 34-year-old Andrew Manning of Wichita and his 27-year-old passenger, Ashiona Hollingsworth of Winfield, were both taken to the Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City where they were later pronounced deceased. 

Both Manning and Hollingsworth were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.  The driver and passenger in the semi were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
