Tiahrt Supports National Parks Program

On Thursday morning on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., Kansas congressman Todd Tiahrt showed his support for National Parks.

Tiahrt, a Republican from Goddard, joined Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne and members of Congress for the final list Centennial Challenge Projects and Programs for 2008 funding; more than $24 million from Congress has been exceeded by matching funds from private sources for $51 million, paying for 110 projects and programs in national parks this year.

It's all part of the President's National Park Centennial Initiative, getting the national parks ready for the park service's 100th anniversary in 2016.
