Threats & Ammo: Wichita Teen Arrested

For the second time in nine days, someone left a threatening letter containing ammunition at an apartment complex near Harry & Rock Road.

Both letters contained threats against Wichita police officers, and contained ammunition.

Deputy Wichita police chief Tom Stolz says a 14-year-old boy was arrested as his east Wichita home, ammunition was confiscated there, and police believe the teenager is the author of those letters.

Police say the boy confessed, saying he the letters because he thought they would be "funny", and also because he was upset with his parents. The boy was released into the custody of his parents.

Police do not believe the teenager is the person who fired a bullet at a police officer in downtown Wichita on March 25th; that suspect remains at large.
