The Miracle of Father Kapaun

The book’s title is “The Miracle of Father Kapaun … Priest, Solider, and Korean War Hero” … by Roy Wenzl and Travis Heying. I own three copies and intend to purchase at least two more, for loved ones. I want them to read this account of the life of Father Emil Kapaun from Pilsen, Kansas.
Father Kapaun served as a chaplain in both World war Two and Korea. He was fearless on the battle field and was captured, though he could have escaped. This book includes eye witness accounts of Father Kapaun’s work in a North Korean prisoner-of-war camp and his death in that camp. It also tells the story of his receiving the Medal of Honor and the efforts to name him a saint in the Catholic Church.
We read about several occurrences that many describe as miracles.
I found Father Kapaun’s story to be inspiring. He led his fellow prisoners with quiet acts of personal courage and unselfish service.
If you read this book, I am certain it will inspire you as well.

Our thought for today is from William Arthur Wood:

“Leadership is based on inspiration, not domination; on cooperation, not intimidation.”
