WICHITA, Kan. - A Wichita pharmacist accused of
distributing controlled substances outside medical practice is
expected to plead guilty in the case.
Constance King is scheduled for a change-of-plea hearing Monday
before U.S. District Judge Monti Belot.
The 47-year-old King faces seven counts in connection to the
case against Dr. Lawrence Simons, of Goddard. She is likely to get
reduced charges in a plea deal with prosecutors.
An indictment alleges King gave a man painkiller prescriptions
written by Simons as payment for transporting a vehicle from Kansas
City to Wichita for the doctor.
Simons' trial is set for Aug. 25. He faces 36 counts, some which
involve allegedly writing prescriptions for people he had never
met.
