Motorcycle Rider Killed in Wichita

On Monday, April 28, 2008, a fatality traffic accident occurred at 4600 E. 45th St. North. Preliminary investigation shows that an unidentified Hispanic male was riding a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle eastbound on 45th Street, between 40-50 miles per hour, with two acquaintances at approximately 3:49 p.m.

The motorcycle driver was trying to negotiate an S-Curve and lost control, overturning the motorcycle, sliding into the westbound lanes of traffic, and colliding with a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 32-year-old Valley Center woman.

The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet, and sustained injuries that proved fatal; he was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic 38 about 14 minutes after the crash. The motorcycle driver’s acquaintances left the scene and were later located and interviewed.

His body was taken by the coroner, and an autopsy is pending.  There were no signs of alcohol / drug use.
