Local government officials have approved a slate of financial incentives for a new Cessna Aircraft Company assembly plant in Wichita.
Leaders from Wichita and Sedgwick County approved the package Tuesday. It includes $10 million in forgivable loans, the consolidation of numerous leases into a 50-year agreement, and various tax breaks.
The state of Kansas has already approved $35 million in loans and bonds to attract the project. Wichita beat out several other states seeking the new plant.
Cessna plans to use the assembly plant to build its new Citation Columbus business jet.
The company says the expansion will create more than 1,000 jobs and include $200 million in new plant and equipment.
