The United Methodist Church is meeting in legislative session in Fort Worth, Texas. 

The General Conference occurs once every four years, and with nearly 1,000 delegates, it's the only body that speaks officially for the United Methodist Church; it's half laity and half clergy. 

The Kansas United Methodist Church has sent 28 people to the event, representing nearly 700 churches and more than 158,000 United Methodists in Kansas.
