LINDSBORG, Kan. - First responders have been in and out of a flooded area in Lindsborg all day Monday, rescuing people by boat and dealing with major damage to homes.
The city administrator says the town got four and half to five inches of rain in about half an hour Monday afternoon. He says the runoff collected in two subdivisions in the northwest part of town.
"I was able to wade in and behind the house the water was up to my waist and I'm 6'10 so that's like four feet deep and I was able to get into the house and there was probably three inches of water in the house," Lindsborg resident March Anderson said.
The Red Cross set up a shelter at the Lindsborg High School but staff says so far everyone displaced from their home already had another place to stay and didn't need their services.
The flood zone is closed off and crews are expected to be back out there Tuesday morning to assess the damage.
