The Kansas Department of Labor has released its 2011 edition of the Kansas Wage Survey. Orthodontists top the list at $117.36 an hour in 2010. Doctors accounted for seven of the remaining nine highest-paid occupations, while chief executives and physicists rounded out the top ten.
Eight of the ten top wage-earners in Kansas are doctors. Looks like “Obama-care” is really tough on our physicians! The pay scale can’t be blamed for a shortage of physicians.
The average hourly wage in the state: $18.89 … up from $18.42 in 2009. The Kansas wage is $2.46 less than the national average … lower than Missouri and Colorado … higher than Oklahoma and Nebraska.
Highest estimated employment in Kansas: retail sales, cashiers, registered nurses, office clerks, customer service, and food preparation and service.
The survey covers all full-time and part-time wage and salary workers in non-farm industries.
