Guns in city facilities

Last week by a 4-to-3 margin the Wichita City Council struck a blow for the Second Amendment and Kansas law by approving concealed firearms at 111 of the City’s 392 facilities. Whether that “blow” was necessary is another story.
There seems to be plenty of anxiety over what might happen if some crazed, unlicensed gun-toter started blasting away in a city facility. Hasn’t ever happened, but doggone it … it could! And we’ve got to have someone there to stop it … should it happen.
Of course, gun accidents do happen occasionally … even for people with firearm experience. And if a public shoot-out should occur, there’s a good chance some innocent bystander or two might take a slug. If the idea is to make people feel safer, they’ve failed … with this citizen, anyway.
But our elected officials and others will be safe for the weekly city council meetings. Just try to get your shootin’ iron into City Hall and see what happens. They even take away Swiss Army knives.

Our thought for today is from Eddie Izzard:

“The National Rifle Association says ‘Guns don’t kill people. People do’. But I think the gun helps.”

Gun Toters
Last week by a 4-to-3 margin the Wichita City Council struck a blow.... The only BLOW I see is you. There seems to be plenty of anxiety (please Mr. McIntosh take a blood pressure pill) over what might happen if some crazed, unlicensed gun-toter started blasting away in a city facility. Hasn’t ever happened (Steve google city building shootings), but doggone it … it could! And we’ve got to have someone there to stop it ** …What! Where the hell did you get this? Is this what they teach you at a Concealed Carry class? Just the opposite, it’s for your protection, not to start an OK Corral gun slinging.** Of course, gun accidents do happen occasionally … even for people with firearm experience. And if a public shoot-out should occur, there’s a good chance some innocent bystander or two might take a slug. **This is true for Cops and us Marines in combat too. I’ve hear you even say, Freedoms not free. Or is that just for overseas.** If the idea is to make people feel safer, they’ve failed … with this citizen, anyway. **Go to a Concealed Carry class and learn what you’re talking about. I guess that’s not necessary for an editorial. I’m not interested in Editorials on how you fell, we what the facts Mac. Did you know 85% of Concealed Carry Graduates don’t ever carry a gun.** But our elected officials and others will be safe for the weekly city council meetings. Just try to get your shootin’ iron into City Hall and see what happens. **Tell me if this sounds stupid Steve. Baseball bats don’t kill people, people kill people, but I think Baseball bats help. Steve I’ve been along time listener of yours (I think over 30 years). I think at times you’re a little too right winged, but we love you anyway. Keep up the good work. P.S. Take the class.
