The Wichita Fire Department has destroyed 2,000 pounds of fireworks that had become contaminated when they were blown over by a storm. Shift commander Dan McClure said firefighters destroyed the fireworks late yesterady at the police explosive ordinance range. He said police confiscated the fireworks from a garbage truck that had attempted to dump them at a landfill. It appears they were damaged when a fireworks tent near O'Reilly Auto Parts on K-15 in Derby blew over in a storm.
