A federal judge in Kansas is not moved by pleas for a temporary medical reprieve for a hospitalized Oklahoma physician convicted in an Internet pharmacy case.
U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown has denied Dr. Wilbur Hilst's request for a second extension on his prison reporting date. Hilst must report to prison on Monday. He was convicted of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute prescription drugs.
The 76-year-old retired doctor from Wewoka, Oklahoma, is hospitalized after a pacemaker was put in earlier this week. His attorneys had asked the federal judge in Wichita for more time for him to recuperate.
