Entertaining visitors

My brother-in-law Mark, his wife Teresa, and teen-age daughter Isabelle came to Wichita for a visit last week. They live in Indianapolis and this was the first time Mark had been home in 13 years. He told me Wichita had changed a great deal.
They stayed at my daughter’s house and got acquainted with her four children, whom they had never met. My wife made her terrific pizza … which she hadn’t cooked in years. Delicious!
Highlights of the visit: the pizza, eating at Nuway and at Freddy’s, and a trip to the Sedgwick County Zoo. Mark said the zoo was even better than he remembered, and his wife and daughter were truly impressed. It was a beautiful day … and the elephants and a baby chimp were very entertaining.
Their visit reminded me that there are things to do and see in Wichita beyond Old Town, sporting events, music, and theater. Simple things amused Mark and his family … and brought back great memories for a hometown guy.

Our thought for today is from Barbara Hall:
“That’s the secret of entertaining. You make your guests feel welcome and at home. If you do that honestly, the rest takes care of itself.”
