Generational Differences on Abortion Narrow
Differences in the way Americans of different age groups view abortion rights have diminished over the past decade. In recent years, support for broadly legal abortion has been quite similar -- albeit shrinking -- among the three age groups younger than 65. Only seniors are significantly less supportive.
Conservatives' Doubts About Global Warming Grow
Thirty percent of political conservatives currently believe the effects of global warming are already occurring, down substantially from 50% in 2008. Liberals' perceptions haven't changed much. Both groups are more likely now than in 2008 to believe the seriousness of global warming is exaggerated.

More Americans are "thriving" now than at any time since Gallup and Healthways began tracking this measure daily in January 2008. Despite this improved outlook on their lives in general, a record-low number of Americans rate their workplaces positively.

Americans have become less worried about the threat of global warming, less convinced that its effects are already happening, more likely to say its effects have been exaggerated, and more likely to believe that scientists themselves are uncertain about its occurrence.

Chile's new president, Sebastian Pinera, faces numerous challenges in addition to helping his nation recover from February's devastating earthquake. Although Chile is the wealthiest nation in Latin America, 74% of Chileans surveyed in 2009 said the gap between the rich and poor was getting bigger.
U.S. Satisfaction Drops Below 20%
Americans' satisfaction with the way things are going in the United States has fallen in recent months and now stands at 19% for the first time in a year. The decline erases nearly all of the gains in satisfaction since Barack Obama took office, and is seen mostly among Democrats.
Fewer Americans Set on Buying Foreign Cars
Americans are less likely now than in the recent past to say they would consider only foreign brands when purchasing a new car. Six percent say this, down from 12% in February 2009 and 15% in December 2008.
The Emotional Cost of Underemployment
Underemployed Americans are significantly more likely to be "struggling" and are about twice as likely to experience sadness and anger than those who are employed.
In U.S., 45% Favor, 48% Oppose Obama Healthcare Plan
Americans who oppose a "healthcare reform bill similar to the one proposed by President Obama" outnumber those in favor by 48% to 45%. Since September, sentiment has grown among opponents that the legislation would raise healthcare costs and not address real problems in the system.
Dems Hold Slight Advantage in 2010 Election Preferences
Democrats hold a slight 47% to 44% lead in registered voters' current preferences for Congress. At the same time, Gallup's inaugural weekly tracking update on the 2010 elections shows that Republicans have a distinct advantage on enthusiasm about voting.
