WICHITA - A man died in a traffic accident in west Wichita; it happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday near Kellogg & I-235, in the 4500 block or W. Irving.
The car drifted to the left side of the road, hitting a parked tractor-trailer parked on the road. The vehicle was detroyed; the impact moved the tractor-trailer more than 10 feet.
The driver, 23-year-old Galen Haaga, was instantlyl killed; a sleeping passenger survived unharmed.
Police believe alcohol was most likely a contributing factor in the crash.
This is the 12th traffic death in Wichita this year; there had been 19 by this time last year.
