Big Fight in North Wichita

Gunfire in north Wichita, just a couple of blocks east of 10th Street & the Canal Route.

9-1-1 dispatchers received a call at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday from the 1100 block of N. Minneapolis, saying that gunshots had been fired, and that more than 100 people, including gang-members, were out in the street as part of a disturbance.

Police arrived to find about two dozen people fighting, and most people in the crowd took off running.

Police ended up forcing their way into one home, to see if anyone was hurt. More than two dozen people were detained and interviewed, and five arrests were made, including a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
