Like many of you, I was excited to see the Wichita State team in the men’s basketball N-C-A-A Tournament for the first time in several years. I had some interest in the Shockers’ play, along with that of Kansas and Kansas State.
But I confess that my interest was nothing like what I noticed among my co-workers and – I’ll bet – many of you noticed at your work place as well.
The copy machine outside my office buzzed constantly Thursday morning as people made copies of the brackets. I noticed co-workers poring over brackets at their desks. There was a constant flow of discussion about the big games.
Thursday morning one co-worker emailed us all with an update on the Colorado State-Murray State game.
I can’t make any profound observations about basketball mania in the workplace. I played a lot of hoops as a boy, and the game just doesn’t hold the same fascination for me as it does for folks who wouldn’t know the difference between a zone defense and a cross-over dribble.
