BREAKING: Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Shot, Suspect At Large
ANDOVER, Kan. - A Butler County Sheriff's Deputy was shot this morning during a routine traffic stop. It happened around 5 o'clock near Andover.
The deputy saw a slow-moving vehicle and pulled it over. He approached the vehicle and saw two males and one female inside. After collecting their information, he went back to his patrol car to run a warrant search.
One suspect got out of the vehicle and began firing shots at the sheriff's deputy. The deputy was struck in the right shoulder. He returned fire, and police believe he struck the suspect.
The deputy was taken to Wesley Medical Center in fair condition. The suspect is on the run. Police are following a blood trail because the suspect was also shot.
The suspect is 41-year-old Jane Tracy Kilborn, wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and biker boots. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see someone matching this description, call 911 immediately. Do not approach him.
Police say it is still early in the investigation, but the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting, along with Andover and Augusta Police Departments.
