Ann Romney and the Mommy Wars

It started when a Democratic strategist said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been telling people he gets his advice on women’s issues from his wife. Hilary Rosen said Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life”. Mrs. Romney responded that she raised five children and “Believe me, it was hard work”.
Welcome to the latest round of Mommy Wars … the gap between women who work outside the home and those who work inside.
Many will agree with Mrs. Romney and resent what they perceive as criticism of women who stay at home and raise children. Others will admit that it’s hard to raise kids, but try doing it while working full- or part-time outside the home as well. And try doing it without the help or support of a husband.
Women can choose to take on a professional life, or can they?
Consider this: in 2010, 58.6% of American women 16 and older were holding jobs or looking for work. That’s three out of five.
