Animal-Fighting Training in Wichita

Cockfighting and dogfighting are still problems in the Wichita area; that word comes from Kay Johnson, the city's environmental health director.

She says animal control officers often find fighting pit bulls wearing huge chains around their necks. She says that's a strength-training device, and she says they've even found doggy treadmills in some places.

Johnson says there are 25-50% more pit bulls in the animal shelters than any other breed.

On Tuesday & Wednesday, Wichita is hosting a seminar, helping train law enforcement members to deal with any animal fighting they might encounter.
