What some call “Obamacare” has many critics. One of them – I’ll wager – is NOT Stephen J. Hemsley. He is the 58-year-old C-E-O of UnitedHealth Group. And according to Forbes, he is the highest-paid chief executive officer in the United States.
Hemsley’s one-year compensation package is almost 102 million dollars, plus 111 million in company stock. I suppose he deserves it, based on his company’s performance … with first-quarter profits up 13%.
How did he do that, given the alleged constraints of our federal health care overhaul?
I don’t know about you, but my company health care plan now includes higher co-pays and higher deductibles. Oh, and I believe our premiums went up this year as well.
Let’s see … I’m having no difficulty in seeing my own physician in a timely manner and I think I’m being treated professionally. The only difference I’m seeing with Obamacare is that my insurance company is getting a bigger share of my money.
Guess what! I’m NOT blaming President Obama.
