A poll has Obama and Romney tied
A C-B-S News/New York Times poll of registered voters has President Obama and presumptive Republican challenger Mitt Romney tied at 46%.
The survey indicates Romney now has the backing of nine of ten Republicans, and he’s neck-and-neck with the President among independent voters.
More than half the respondents express confidence in both the President and Romney on the nation’s most important issue – the economy. 48% approve of the job Obama is doing as president, while 42% disapprove.
It seems pretty simple to me. President Obama will paint Romney as wealthy, aloof, and a corporate stooge who doesn’t care about the middle class or the poor. Romney will paint Obama as a liberal big spender who knows nothing about business or creating jobs, and is hell-bent to take away as many American liberties as possible.
I’ve probably given you more substance than you’ll find from all our greatest political pundits and talkers, once the candidates begin slinging serious mud about all the non-issues.
Our thought for today is from Eugene McCarthy:
“It is dangerous for a national candidate to say things that people might remember.”
