What kind of year has 2010 been for you? I can sum up my year in one word: challenging.
Covering this year’s primary and then midterm election was tough. It was the most contentious primary I’ve seen in my four decades in broadcast journalism. I did many on-air interviews and moderated four high-profile public forums and debates.
Severe weather coverage was also tough this year … with warnings popping up at all hours, right into September.
On a personal note, I injured my back and then my knee … and worried that I would never run again. It took great patience to rest and wait for the healing, which eventually came. The good news is, I’m back to running two miles a day and the knee feels great.
Professionally, our K-N-S-S news team captured three first-place trophies from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters … plus three second-places and two third-places.
It was a challenging year for me … but one with several nice successes to enjoy.
