HESSTON, Kan. - AGCO is going to lay off 80 workers at its Hesston plant.
The President of the United Steel Workers union said the layoffs will start as soon as next week. Union President Brian Lansaw said the company blames a soft ag-business market for the layoffs.
AGCO makes farm equipment including hay balers, combines, swathers and planters. KAKE News reports the plant has 1,500 workers in Hesston; it's the largest employer in the city.
Lansaw said in addition to the layoffs there will be some furloughs and reduced work schedules.
