WICHTIA, Kan. - Around a dozen Sedgwick County deputies are testing a new uniform that consists of a dark polo shirt and khaki pants. "It's very comfortable. We're used to polyester, the stiffer uniforms," said Deputy Erin Wannow. "Going out on a call, being on an accident scene, it's a lot more comfortable."
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office is conducting a three-month trial of these uniforms. They are looking at this outfit as the primary uniform for the detention facility and as a seasonal uniform for those out on patrol.
The trial phase will follow a cost analysis. One possibility is for deputies to purchase the seasonal uniforms. The Sheriff's Office will make a decision by the end of the year. CLICK HERE if you'd like to comment on the new uniforms.
