WICHITA, Kan.  -  The United States Bowling Congress is returning to Wichita, but it's a few years away.  In an announcement Wednesday morning, The Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau announced that the women's bowling championship was coming back to Wichita in 2019.
The centennial tournament is expected to draw more than 30,000 people to Wichita over a 3 month time frame, from April to June of that year. it's expected to generate an estimated $14 million in economic impact for the area.
"These bowlers will stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, shop in our stores and visit our attractions," said Susie Berglund Santo, Go Wichita president and CEO. "This is a real economic boost for our community and we are delighted that Wichita was chosen as the host city for this prestigious event."
The championships will be split over two locations: Northrock Lanes and Thunderbird Bowl.  The last time Wichita hosted the women's championship was in 2004.
