WINFIELD, Kan. - The Cowley County Sheriff' has confirmed the human remains found last week in a field outside of Winfield belong to Corbin Wilt, 37. Sheriff Don Read said dental records were used to identify the remains. They were found in an area where authorities had searched last year shortly after Wilt's disappearance.
Authorities were drawn to the area originally after Wilt's cell phone pinged to the location near 65th between 156th and 162nd Street. The sheriff's office does not suspect foul play is involved in Wilt's death.
