KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Kansas City, Kan., police are
investigating the death of a 9-year-old girl who was struck and
killed by a school bus.
Police spokesman Sgt. Emmett Lockridge said the school bus hit
the child Thursday morning while it was on its route to pick up
children for school.
The accident happened near a stop sign in midtown Kansas City,
Kan. But Lockridge said it was unclear what caused the bus to
strike the child.
No other injuries were reported.
Lockridge said other children on the bus were put on another bus
and taken to school. He said the school district was not releasing
the name of the school the children attended.
The victim's name is also being withheld while family is
notified. The accident is under investigation, and it's unclear if
charges will be filed.
