HERINGTON, Kan. - Two Junction City residents, including a 2-year-old boy, are killed in a two-car crash south of Herington in northeast Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says six others were taken to hospitals with injuries from the collision that happened at 11:43 a.m. Friday on U.S. 56.
The patrol says a 2010 Nissan Altima driven by 21-year-old Bryan Alfred of Junction City crossed the center line and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado sport utility vehicle.
The crash sent Alfred's car into the ditch, where it overturned. Twenty-year-old Amber Alfred and 2-year-old Josiah Alfred were killed in the crash.
Bryan Alfred and a 6-year-old passenger, Keith Johnson of Wichita, were injured. The SUV driver and three passengers, all from Herington, also were taken to a hospital for treatment.
